Intersurgical's Spherasorb™ soda lime is a uniquely formulated product, which is designed to address some of the potential problems associated with the use of soda lime. Its spherical design allows for a more uniform bed packing, thus reducing resistance to flow and gas channelling.
The products unique chemical composition makes it an extremely hard and consistent product. As a result, Spherasorb™ does not break down during transport as much as some other products and therefore greatly reduces the levels of dust associated with soda lime.
Various test data also suggests that Spherasorb™ may reduce the levels of Carbon Monoxide and Compound A generated by the interaction of dry soda lime with various anesthetic agents. In a clinical evaluation of a major German hospital, the University of Dusseldorf, Spherasorb™ also outlasted other soda limes by about 30% under similar conditions of use.
Spherasorb™ exhibits a white to violet color change when exhausted. The product is available in 11 lb. "jericans", which allow easy storage and handling. Spherasorb™ jericans are re-sealable and easy to pour.
