New guidance on patient monitoring from the Association of Anaesthetists, UK.
In May 2021, the Association of Anaesthetists, UK, published new guidelines on patient monitoring emphasising the importance of CO2 monitoring. The updated guideline now states: 'Capnography monitoring is essential at all times in patients with tracheal tubes, supraglottic airway devices and those who are sedated to a level unresponsive to verbal commands'
Intersurgical breathing systems, including our Flextube, Uniflow™ and DuoFlow™,
benefit from the gas monitoring line being conveniently and safely positioned inside the length of the breathing system in line with the new guidelines.
You can find all of the information detailing the new guidelines in the article, ‘Recommendations for standards of monitoring during anaesthesia and recover 2021’
published in the British Journal of Anaesthesia
