UniFlow™ coaxial breathing systems

Intersurgical provide a wide range of universal coaxial breathing systems to fit all anaesthetic machines and ventilators and are ideally suited for low flow anaesthesia for adults and children >5Kg.
UniFlow is a convenient, single limb tube-within-a-tube breathing system that provides warmer, humid inspiratory gases and the option of an integrated respiratory gases monitoring line. UniFlow incorporates a large 30mm diameter outer lumen minimising the resistance to flow of the expired gases so the patient will not experience unacceptable resistance during spontaneous breathing.

The UniFlow deluxe coaxial breathing system incorporates an APL valve, 2L reservoir bag and two different monitoring line lengths allowing the system to be used for anaesthesia induction, low flow anaesthesia and delivery of supplemental oxygen in recovery and transport.

The Silver Knight™ anti-microbial range of UniFlow coaxial breathing systems contain a silver-based ion additive to further enhance patient safety by helping to reduce the incidence of Hospital Acquired Infections(1).

All UniFlow systems come with a leak tester to easily test the integrity of the inner lumen as recommended by the AAGBI(2). Safety is assured as both the inner and outer lumens can be properly and independently tested for leaks.

The UniFlow range of ‘universal’ coaxial anaesthetic breathing systems has been designed to meet the demands of changing clinical practice and user demands.

Reduce the pressure

Stop Pressure Ulcer Day - Thursday 19th November

We are proud to support the European Pressure Ulcer Panel (EPUAP) by raising awareness of pressure ulcers.

A pressure ulcer is a localised injury to the skin and/or underlying tissue usually over a bony prominence, as a result of pressure, or pressure in combination with shear. A number of contributing or confounding factors are also associated with pressure ulcers; the significance of these factors is yet to be elucidated1.

Intersurgical provides two products that can help reduce the occurrence of pressure ulcers on the ear: the Intersurgical EcoLite™ face mask range and nasal cannula with ear guards.

The Intersurgical EcoLite™ adult oxygen range features an extra chin section incorporating two integral seals ensuring that the mask fits a wide range of face shapes. The mask's retaining elastic can be fitted either above or below the patient's ear depending on the patient's face shape. In the preferred below ear position it eliminates the discomfort and longer-term trauma created by elastic sitting on top of the patient's ears.

Our nasal cannula with ear guards is designed to prevent trauma to the patient's ears thanks to the soft silicone foam cushions, which are easily adjusted and securely fitted.

Visit our dedicated page to watch videos on the products features and benefits, and find out more about these ranges.

Patient Connections

A range of catheter mounts and elbows for secure connection of the patient to the breathing system.

We have catheter mounts available in three tube types: Flextube™, Smoothbore and Intersurgical Superset™, all available with a variety of elbow connections and ports for all applications.
The concertina design of the Superset catheter mount provides complete positional control, which allows for the adjustment of dead space from 20-40ml and an extendable length range of 70-150mm (excluding connectors).
Smoothbore catheter mounts provide good flow characteristics, lower tubing compliance and clear, crush-resistant tubing.
All ranges are available in a variety of tube lengths with double swivel elbows and double flip-top caps.
We offer a comprehensive range of elbows supplied with fixed connections or with a double swivel for extra mobility, in a large variety of configurations. To improve patient safety the ISO tapers allow for a push-twist connection/disconnection method, as recommended by many anaesthetic organisations.
Ports and caps are available on a variety of products including catheter mounts, elbows, T-pieces, Y-pieces and connectors. All Intersurgical port caps are fixed to the port connectors to ensure that they cannot be misplaced in use.
Luer ports are available for secure attachment of gas sampling lines with luer lock fittings.  7.6mm port and flip-top cap are available for insertion of all standard 7.6mm probes or for suctioning.  Double flip-top cap with seal are available for bronchoscopy and suction ports in one patient connection. Watch a video which demonstrates our full range.
Visit our dedicated product pages for further information about our catheter mount and elbow ranges.

TrachSeal™ Closed Suction Systems

Closed suction enables the clinician to clear lungs of secretions whilst maintaining ventilation and minimising patient discomfort.

Maintaining a closed breathing system is part of the ventilator care bundle, designed to reduce the incidence of VAP in the hospital.

The new Intersurgical TrachSeal™ Closed suction systems are available for 24 hour or 72 hour usage depending on patient requirements.  There are two length options to allow attachment to either endotracheal or tracheostomy tubes.

TrachSeal™ features an ultra clear, new softer sleeve. This allows the clinician greater feel when inserting the catheter with optimum visibility of blockage assessments. Our suction control valve is responsive and allows for single handed control of the applied suction force. The positive locking mechanism is designed to prevent suction being accidentally applied.

The TrachSeal™ range is an addition to our extensive range of breathing systems and accessories for the intensive care area. Please visit our product page for further information, to make an enquiry or request a sample to try.

We hope to meet you at the following event where TrachSeal™ will be demonstrated.
